Later in the second day we went to Heianji and a candy factory. The temple was pretty cool, but since I know very little about the history of the temples/shrines we visited I could only admire the beauty. Unfortunately, they become slightly staid after seeing a decent amount of them. Although, we did see two cool things at Heianji; little kids in traditional Japanese clothing, it was to celebrate ages 3,5,7 and a part of a traditional Japanese wedding.
The candy factory was really crowded and very much a tourist stop...three buses came into the parking lot after we had arrived. They even had someone directing traffic for the parking lot. All of the finished products(for sale, of course) were on the bottom floor with and the factory was on the second floor. The candy was pretty good. It was unlike anything I had eating before, and it left a semi-strange feeling in my stomach.
