Kyoto - Chion-in Temple (10/24/08)

After we walked for a couple hours we went to the Chion-in Temple. It was quite large and had a massive set of steps that one needed to climb to visit the temple. The steps weren't, you know, epic in size, where there are billion steps and the temple is in the clouds, but there were a couple stories worth of steps. Anyways, at the top there was a big open area where everyone congregated until it was time to go. The highlight of the visit was seeing some monks picking up an elder monk, chanting and then driving away in a minivan. It was quite a mixture of traditional and modern times.
