Earlier this evening I went to my first Kempo practice. I had a great time and started to learn the proper technique for the basic standing position, punching, kicking, pulling attackers in and getting away when an attacker grabs your arm. Obviously, I am nowhere near mastering any of these techniques, that will probably take quite some time. One thing I did notice is though, is Kempo is very similar to golf, in that it's much harder than it looks and requires a large amount of concentration and body control to do decently. The next practice is Monday night and I am going to go to that and keep learning.
Also, tomorrow we are off to Kyoto. We are leaving at 8:25am and taking a bus there. I have been told that it is a two hour bus ride, but I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a lot longer than that. I just looked on Google maps and it's about a 2 hour train/shinkansen ride. Either way, we will get there when we get there...no rush. I'll take lots of pictures and movies. See you all in a few days!

Hey Morgan! Hope you had a good day in Kyoto. It's supposed to be the most beautiful city in Japan. I hope you were able to take lots of photos!
Grandma and I made 24 quarts of jam today. More tomorrow I hope till it's all done.
Is there a way for you to keep up with the Kempo? Or is this just a one-time experience?
How is your Japanese coming? Do you feel any more secure in speaking and understanding?
Love, Mom
